Ascend — Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 August 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Ascend (the "Service"), a personal net-worth tracking application with optional AI-assisted features. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

For a plain-English product summary, see Trust & Security.

1. Who can use Ascend

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You can create an account directly; you are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password, authenticator codes, and any recovery codes secure. Optional two-factor authentication (TOTP) may be required for some administrative roles.

2. What Ascend does

Ascend helps you understand what you own and what changed. Depending on what you choose to connect or enter, that may include:

Feature availability depends on your plan (Free vs Pro), configuration, and admin kill-switches. Plan details may change; the in-app upgrade surface is the current feature list.

3. Not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice

Ascend is an informational tool, not a financial adviser. Ascend is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, or financial planner, and nothing in the Service creates a fiduciary or advisory relationship. All content — including AI-generated research, rundowns, Signal and Podcast summaries, Briefings, insights, Wrapped narration, projections, percentile comparisons, and copilot responses — is provided for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security or to make any financial decision. Investing involves risk, including loss of principal. Past performance does not predict future results. Always do your own research and consult a licensed professional before making financial decisions.

4. AI features and accuracy

AI output is generated by automated models (including third-party providers such as Anthropic, xAI, and Google Gemini where enabled) and may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong, and may incorporate third-party or web-sourced information that Ascend does not control or verify. Do not rely on AI output without independently verifying it. AI features may change, be limited, rate-capped, or be discontinued at any time. See AI Transparency.

5. Connected accounts and data

When you link an account or add a wallet or property, you authorize Ascend and its providers to access the data needed to display your balances and holdings, generally on a read-only basis. Ascend does not place trades, transfer funds, or take custody of crypto. How your data is stored, used, and deleted is described in the Privacy Notice. You can request an export or immediate account deletion from Settings, including while an App Store subscription is active. Ascend cannot cancel that subscription on your behalf; deleting the Ascend account does not stop Apple billing, so manage or cancel it separately in your Apple ID subscription settings.

6. Your responsibilities

7. Subscriptions and billing

Some features require a paid "Pro" subscription. Subscriptions purchased on the web are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions purchased in the iOS app are auto-renewing subscriptions processed by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. An active subscription through either provider grants the same Pro entitlement in Ascend.

The price, billing period, and any trial or introductory offer are shown before you confirm a purchase. Paid plans renew automatically until canceled. Manage or cancel a web subscription from Ascend's web billing settings, which opens Stripe's billing portal. Manage or cancel an App Store subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the current paid period, unless the payment provider or applicable law requires otherwise.

Refund eligibility and processing are governed by applicable law and the policies of the provider that processed the purchase. Apple handles refund requests for App Store purchases. Prices and plan features may change prospectively, subject to any notice or consent required by the applicable payment provider or law. Deleting your Ascend account does not itself cancel an App Store subscription or stop Apple billing. Account deletion remains available immediately; manage or cancel the subscription separately with Apple.

8. No warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Ascend does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data or AI output is accurate or complete. Treat net-worth totals, estimates, and AI explanations as organized context — see Number Quality.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ascend and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from financial or investment decisions you make, loss of data, or loss of profits, even if advised of the possibility. To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid Ascend in the twelve months before the claim or US$100.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. App Store billing is separate and must be managed as described in Sections 5 and 7. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 3, 8, 9, and 11) will survive.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surfaced in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

12. Applicable law and disputes

Applicable law governs these Terms without limiting any mandatory consumer protections available to you. A dispute must be brought in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable law, unless the parties agree to another lawful process.
